Educational Programming delivered in first person (Sandy IS Martha Washington, as if it were 1784):
Spend time with Mrs. Washington as she completes dressing for her day in this interactive and informative program. During the time together, Mrs. Washington will share news of her family, and how the current events that her husband is so deeply involved in impacts her family and her developing nation.
If you are interested in clothing, this is the conversation for you!
So much of what people do today is because of what they WANT to do. That was not the case during Martha's lifetime. Where you were born, and to whom you were born, dictated your path in life. Such is the case for much of women's history!
In this educational program delivered via first person conversation, Martha will share how she always followed her duty, rather than her inclination, and how duty shaped her life from childhood to her life just following the War for Independence.
Have you ever wanted to ask questions of someone, but not known just what to say?
In this interactive visit, 10 guests hold the topics that they will ask of Mrs. Washington. Be ready to open your envelope to see what subject is yours to bring up.
While the topics may be finite on the paper, once Mrs. Washington starts talking, the stories and gossip may continue on, as one thought breeds another.
Martha Washington joins your guests as "The Ultimate Hostess" in an unstructured setting, floating and visiting with all, in a light, informational manner. Questions may be asked and answered, and photos may be taken throughout the engagement.
Perfect for fundraisers, meetings, conventions, professional development days, or special events.
Current conversations offered in third person (Sandy is dressed as Martha, but interacts in the 21st century):
~ Becoming Martha: Why Would a Nice Girl Like You Do Something Like This?
~ On HOW & WHY to Make a Past Life Relevant to Present People
Additional topics may be developed to address your audience.
Appropriate for Ages 8-108
Participants in this 1.25 hour program will have the opportunity for their own 18th century experience. Mrs. Washington will introduce the use of the quill and ink and relay stories from her life. Guests will write one of their favorite memories on parchment paper with quill and ink (provided). Following writing, guests will share their own stories with Mrs. Washington and the rest of the group. Questions and conversation with Mrs. Washington runs throughout.
Program is delivered in first person (Sandy as Martha).
Appropriate for Ages 8-108
There are so many stories out there about the Washingtons! In this 45 minute conversation (including Q&A), Mrs. Washington will separate fact from fiction related to herself and General Washington. Martha will then morph back into Sandy and will teach guests how to do 21st century research to discover if something is true or not.
The first part of the program is delivered in first person (Sandy as Martha), and the learning how to research the truth is delivered as Sandy.
Thank you SO much for coming yesterday and for the amazing quill and ink class! Everyone had a wonderful time and it was simply lovely. I know the adults were blown away- I attempted to talk up the class, but I know you exceeded their expectations. The one grandmother said she thought it would be a nice activity for the two girls, but she wished she had thought of questions ahead of time because she was so impressed with your knowledge and she hadn’t realized how incredible the class would be.
You’ve definitely put a whole new angle into our learning and we all love and appreciate that!
